Olympic NP
Sunset on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, seen from the "MV Coho" on our way from Victoria to Port Angeles.
Wild flowers in the meadow (Hurricane Hill Trail). Pioneer violet : the heart-shaped leaves and bright yellow flowers of this violet make it an early spring favorite. It grows in damp wood and on moist mountain slopes where grass is not too thick. Canada thistle : although its purple flower heads are showy, this is an aggressive weed introduced from Europe. It is quick to invade disturbed areas and choke out native plants. |
