Wukoki Pueblo, "a home in the middle of nowhere"

Here, Kayento Anasazi made a living : this 800-year-old home has not been rebuilt : it is the best preserved structure in the park.

Wukoki, a modern Hopi word for "Big House", was once home for 2 or 3 prehistoric Indian families. This site, occupied from about 1120-1210 AD, afforded its occupants a commanding view of the surrounding terrain.
