Sculptor Marguerite Staude first conceived the vision of a cross as the core of a church after seeing what appeared to be a cross in the newly-built Empire State Building in 1932.
The structure was originally planned for the majestci Buda hills overlooking the Danube in Budapest, but WWII extinguished the dream.
Eventually, Staude and her team placed a scaled-down version of the church in Oak Creek Canyon near her ranch.
