Also known as "The Lumberman's Candle", it was built in 1989 over the Kemijoki River (frozen at this time of year). on our way to Ounasvaara Hill. named after the band who won the Eurovision in 2006, and whose members are from Rovaniemi. 28 km roundtrip through forests and frozen lakes to go to the reindeer's farm. one of the Sami in charge of the reindeer. There are more reindeer than people in Lapland (about 200,000). They all belong to a owner, but they all live in the wilderness : they are gathered twice a year so as to be branded (or slaughtered as it is the main source of meat in Lapland...). At that moment, we are right half the path : 2,7 km are still to be made to return to Hiihtostadion. Having a break in a teepee where hot drinks were waiting for us and where the guide cooked sausages over an inside fire. I was the driver during the first half of the trip, and Dany the passenger... then we shifted ! Our team of dogs... This time, we skied on another track for 8,2 km... ... on the Candle Route.
