Gooseberry is known for its waterfalls, winding river, gorges, dramatic Lake Superior shorelines and North Shore wildlife.
10,000 years ago, glacial ice covered the North Shore and caused the Earth to sag.
When the ice melted, a great weight was removed and the land began to rise or "uplift".
It forced all North Shore rivers to cut the rough rocks to reach the receding Lake Superior, leaving the falls, rapids and gorges we enjoy today.
